Under Health & Safety Regulations all electric appliances that have a plug (classed as portable appliances) should be inspected and tested on a regular basis. This includes appliances such as hand tools, heaters, extension leads, microwaves and kettles etc. The PATS testing requires specialist test equipment and should be done by a competent person.
